ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING / EMPLOYER SERVICES

Sponsorship and visa support for engineering and manufacturing

Plan skilled technical appointments with coordinated migration support for your engineering or manufacturing business.

For business owners, operations managers and HR teams recruiting overseas specialists or supporting existing employees. We review the proposed technical role, candidate and employment arrangement, then coordinate the migration services appropriate to your workforce plan.

BUSINESS & ENTERPRISE SERVICES

Migration work, coordinated around your business.

From the initial sponsorship question to the worker’s application and ongoing obligations, agree the support your organisation needs.

Sponsorship applications

Prepare Standard Business Sponsorship (SBS) for eligible employment arrangements, or Temporary Activities Sponsorship (TAS) where the proposed training or activity requires it. Review existing approvals before starting again.

Candidate and role review

Assess the proposed duties, candidate background, visa history and work location together. Identify evidence, skills-assessment or professional requirements that may affect the migration plan.

Nomination preparation

Coordinate the employer nomination and supporting business, position, salary and recruitment evidence required for the chosen pathway.

Visa applications

Prepare the worker’s visa application within the agreed engagement, keeping the employer and individual requirements aligned and their responsibilities clear.

Sponsorship compliance

Advise on the obligations that apply to your sponsor type, including relevant records, notifications and employment or training changes. Plan for compliance beyond the application decision.

The scope of assistance and respective employer and worker representation are agreed before work starts. Employers retain their employment decisions, workplace responsibilities and sponsor duties.

YOUR WORKPLACE

Business settings and roles we can discuss

Engineering services

Discuss professional engineering and technical appointments across consultancy and project work. Actual responsibilities and the relevant professional requirements matter more than a broad job title.

Manufacturing and fabrication

Consider proposed roles in production engineering, fabrication and skilled trades. Describe the work, equipment, qualifications and experience required without assuming every production position is sponsorable.

Maintenance and technical operations

Bring proposed maintenance, fitting and technical support roles for review. Explain whether the work supports ongoing operations, a particular project or a genuinely specialist short assignment.

These examples describe roles and business settings we can discuss. Eligibility depends on the actual duties, employer, worker and selected pathway.

VISA PATHWAYS

Match the pathway to the purpose.

Employment, permanent nomination, regional work and training have different requirements. Start with the work to be done, rather than a preferred visa number.

Skills in Demand

Assess temporary sponsored employment against the actual duties, applicable occupation requirements and employer and candidate criteria.

Employer Nomination Scheme

Consider permanent employer nomination under the relevant stream. A current temporary visa or job offer does not by itself establish eligibility.

Regional employer sponsorship

For a position in a designated regional area, assess the regional, role, employer and applicant requirements together.

Structured occupational training

Where there is a genuine eligible training purpose, review the training plan, participant and appropriate sponsorship and nomination arrangements.

Where standard arrangements do not fit, a labour agreement may need separate assessment. It is not an automatic alternative for every business or role.

SECTOR CONSIDERATIONS

The details that shape the plan.

Distinguish the technical role

Engineer, technician and tradesperson positions can involve different duties and assessment requirements. Prepare a clear position description, reporting lines and employment terms that reflect the work the person will actually perform.

Check professional and trade boundaries

Migration assessment and permission to undertake regulated work are separate matters. Professional engineering registration may depend on the jurisdiction and activities, while particular trade tasks may carry their own licensing requirements.

Explain the operating arrangement

Tell us where the person will work, who will employ and direct them, and whether client sites are involved. Installation visits, ongoing maintenance and structured training should be assessed according to their actual purpose.

EMPLOYER QUESTIONS

Before you commit to the next step.

How do we identify the appropriate occupation for a technical role?

Start with the actual duties, level of responsibility and required qualifications. We can review that evidence against potential migration pathways rather than selecting an occupation from the job title alone.

Can an equipment specialist visit on a short-stay pathway?

The proposed activities and circumstances need review. A short visit does not by itself establish eligibility, and ongoing operational work should not be treated as a specialist assignment simply because the initial stay is brief.

Does a migration skills assessment provide engineering registration?

These are separate processes. Check the professional requirements for the work and location with the relevant regulator; a positive migration assessment should not be assumed to authorise regulated engineering services.

Can we discuss a longer-term pathway for an existing employee?

Yes. Bring the employee’s current visa circumstances, duties and employment history. We can assess potential options, but a temporary appointment does not automatically lead to permanent residence.
