Describe the project you are accountable for
The occupation concerns organising ICT projects, coordinating people and resources, and controlling delivery against agreed milestones, time and budget. ANZSCO 2022 also identifies ICT Security Project Manager as a specialisation.
For a practical role review, explain what was being delivered, which decisions you owned, the team and suppliers involved, and how you dealt with changes or delivery risks. Separate project outcomes from your personal contribution. These questions help clarify the role; they are not an extra official document checklist.
Distinguish delivery management from related roles
A project coordinator may maintain schedules and meeting records without the same delivery accountability. A business analyst may define requirements, while a technical lead may supervise engineering decisions. Look at the responsibilities across a normal project before treating those titles as equivalent to 135112.
A “Scrum Master”, “Product Owner” or “Delivery Lead” title is not an automatic occupation match. Explain whether you manage the ICT project itself, facilitate a team, prioritise product requirements or carry out another function.
Where your role changed from development to management, record the change date and duties. Earlier technical work and later management should not be presented as one unchanged position.

Connect your management history to the ACS pathway
ACS assesses 135112 even though it sits in the managers major group. Review the pathway that fits your qualifications and professional history. A general management degree should not be assumed to contain the ICT study required for a particular pathway.
Prepare academic transcripts as well as the qualification title. Project-management credentials can explain your background, but do not assume a credential substitutes for ACS education or experience criteria. Where formal ICT study is limited, examine the current assessment options before commissioning reports or paying fees.
Build evidence around real responsibility
Prepare a career timeline showing employers, client placements and project assignments. Ask referees to describe the work they can genuinely confirm, including your delivery responsibilities, rather than reproducing the ANZSCO description.
For your consultation notes, summarise the scale and complexity of representative projects without disclosing confidential budgets, client information or proprietary plans. Identify who can verify your role. Supporting records must follow ACS requirements; a project presentation or methodology certificate alone does not establish a period of paid employment.
Plan around STSOL and CSOL eligibility
Under LIN 19/051, 135112 is on the STSOL. It can support occupation eligibility for state-nominated 190 and 491 applications, but not a new 189 Points-tested or family-sponsored 491 application. State nomination still depends on the relevant state or territory criteria.
135112 also appears on the CSOL for 482 Core Skills and 186 Direct Entry. For an employer-sponsored plan, check the actual position, the employer requirements and your own eligibility. Does a project-management qualification guarantee a suitable ACS result?
No. The relevant assessment pathway, ICT content and professional experience need to be examined. A recognised management credential does not by itself establish all migration assessment requirements.
Can I use 135112 for subclass 189?
It is currently an STSOL occupation, so it does not meet the occupation-list requirement for a new 189 Points-tested application. Examine eligible state-nominated or employer-sponsored routes instead.
Do I need to have written software myself?
The occupation centres on ICT project management, not a requirement to perform every technical task personally. You still need to demonstrate an appropriate ICT professional background and satisfy the applicable ACS pathway.
