Australia reopen its international border to Subclass 188 Business Innovation & Investment (Provisional) visa holders.

Holder of Subclass 188 Business Innovation & Investment (Provisional) visa will now have automatic right to enter Australia without the need to apply for travel exemptions. As usual, 14-day quarantine requirement at the traveller’s own expense is still applicable.

Previously, only limited person (such as Australian citizen or permanent resident) will enjoy this automatic entry right when the Australian Government first closed its international border from 20 March 2020.

This measure is in line with the Government’s focus in attracting global businesses and talents to Australia as part of the Government’s effort to aid Australia’s recovery from its first recession in nearly 30 years and boost local jobs.

As COVID-19 cases in Australia started to dwindle, we anticipate more categories of temporary visa holders will be given automatic rights to enter Australia or eligible to apply for border entry exemptions in the coming months.
